When high performance comes with a personal cost
Technology work can be intellectually rewarding while also creating unusual pressure. Product launches, on-call rotations, long hours, rapid organizational change, layoffs, fundraising, and the expectation to remain constantly available can make it difficult to recover outside work.
Success does not protect someone from anxiety, depression, panic, sleep problems, or relationship strain. It can sometimes make those concerns harder to acknowledge. A psychiatric evaluation offers a private setting to understand what is happening and consider appropriate treatment without reducing your experience to productivity alone.
Concerns that can deserve a closer look
Anxiety and constant pressure
Persistent worry, physical tension, panic symptoms, or difficulty mentally disconnecting from work.
Sleep disruption
Trouble falling asleep, waking during the night, or maintaining a healthy routine around launches and on-call work.
Low mood and loss of motivation
Feeling depleted, disconnected, irritable, or unable to enjoy life outside work.
Concentration difficulties
Struggling to prioritize, sustain attention, make decisions, or complete tasks under competing demands.
Career and identity transitions
Navigating layoffs, a new leadership role, founder stress, relocation, or a change in professional direction.
Relationships under strain
Work demands can affect communication, boundaries, family time, and the ability to be present with others.
Experiencing one of these concerns does not establish a diagnosis. A clinician must evaluate your individual symptoms, history, health, and circumstances.
Telehealth that works beyond the traditional commute
All Amura Psychiatry appointments are held by secure video. You can meet from a private, appropriate location without adding Bay Area traffic or a waiting room to your day.
We serve adults located in Palo Alto, Mountain View, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, and communities throughout California. You must be physically located in California at the time of every appointment.
Care centered on your whole life—not just your output
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, not a performance review. Your provider will listen to your concerns, review your health and treatment history, and learn how symptoms are affecting work, sleep, relationships, and daily life.
Treatment is individualized and may include careful medication management, evidence-based therapy, practical changes, or coordination with other clinicians. Evaluation does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, prescription, or treatment plan. Learn about our services.
Insurance options
We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, and Health Net HMO and PPO plans. Benefits and patient responsibility vary.

Do you only see people who work in technology?
No. Amura Psychiatry cares for adults from many professions and backgrounds. This article focuses on challenges that are common in Silicon Valley, but care is always based on the individual rather than a job title.
Is workplace burnout a psychiatric diagnosis?
Burnout is not itself a psychiatric diagnosis. Exhaustion, sleep changes, anxiety, low mood, and concentration problems can also occur with treatable mental health conditions. A psychiatric evaluation can help clarify what may be contributing to your symptoms.
What happens during the first appointment?
Your provider will ask about your current concerns, medical and psychiatric history, sleep, medications, work and relationship stressors, and treatment goals. Together, you will discuss an individualized plan that may include medication management, therapy, lifestyle changes, or coordination with other clinicians.
Can I attend from my office or while traveling?
You may attend from a private, appropriate location as long as you are physically located in California at the time of the visit. Appointments cannot be held while you are outside California.
Are same-day or next-day appointments available?
They may be available, but they are not guaranteed. Scheduling depends on provider availability, clinical appropriateness, insurance verification, and completion of the intake process.
Which insurance plans are accepted?
Amura Psychiatry is in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, and Health Net HMO and PPO plans. Coverage and patient responsibility vary by plan.
